Switching agencies: what are the rules?

Unfortunately, it still sometimes happens that au pairs encounter obstacles when they want to transfer to another agency. Sometimes this even happens when the current situation does not meet the agreements made with the host family. It is good to know that no agency is allowed to block the transfer of an au pair by, for example, imposing financial penalties or threatening to revoke the residence permit. Such practices are not allowed and endanger the well-being of the au pair.

Important to remember: only the IND is authorized to revoke a residence permit. If there are signs that the rules are being violated, the IND may investigate. Therefore, if applicable, we ask you to communicate openly and honestly about the rights of your au pair and support them in a possible transfer to another agency should this be the wish of the au pair.

Daily schedule: what should you pay attention to?

A structured and clear daily schedule is an important part of the experience for both your family and the au pair. It is therefore important that the arrangements made are well observed. Nevertheless, it regularly happens that au pairs report that their daily schedule changes suddenly and without consultation.

To avoid this, we ask that you carefully update the agreed daily schedule and forward the new schedule to us if there are any changes. The important thing is that everyone feels comfortable with the arrangement of the day and that the au pair clearly knows where she stands.
