Dear host family
My name is Martha Lorena Hoyos Muñoz; I am 28 years old; I am from Colombia and I am currently studying a “Bachelor´s Degree in Basic Education with Emphasis on Spanish Language and English” futhermore I have participated in some short seminars as: “autism and inclussion approaches and challenges” and “ update on intellectual disability”; in addition I have participated on the “third session Afro-Colombian catedra called: Literature the two oceans- Caribbean and Pacific dialogues.
I am a young woman, since I was a child I had the opportunity to take care children, for this reason, I have acquired good experiences with them. The firt time that I had the opportunity of taking care children was when I took care my aunt’s sons, at that time I used to change their diapers; give them the bottle; organize the clothes in their closets and when they grew up I prepared their food. Time later, I had the oppotunity to replace a teacher for 8 months in a rural school, the children were in kindergarten, being with them was very fun because the learning was acquired through games.
Besides these experiences, I have had the oportunity to work in a urban school with children 7, 8 and 10 aged, for 3 years, having the support of my University; the teaching was focused in the learning of the reading and writing, to teach these topics, I used to prepare different activities for each session, with the aim to make it more fun and less tedious, the activities included: games, songs, stories and handcrafts.
Currently, I teach reinforcement classes to a 5 years old girl, we started her learning process 10 months ago to date; the schedules are: Monday to Saturday 2 hours a day; in this experience I practice what I learn in my internships at school, for that reason I adapt the same activities and anothers to their level of learning, getting excellent results.
Also, I like focusing in the person and not forgetting the values, principles, to make that person an integral being, I consider it is important not to leave aside the human. Teaching to children everyday is a mutual learning, this is the best part of all.
I want to be Au Pair because I will have responsability to children, so I will get better my teacher profile, its will encourage me to be more independent; also, its will be the best oportunity to learn and improve more about the English language .I am so excited about this awesome opportunity to know my Host Family and to be a member their family.
